Soshu Hiromitsu Katana In Russo-Japanese War Admiral's Kyu Gunto Mounts
This is an interesting sword! It is mounted in Russo Japanese war Admirals grade KyuGunto mounts. The cutting edge is exactly 60cm (23 10/16") long. The blade is an early to mid Muramachi period Soshu den katana and has a Kinpun Mei (Gold Lacquer atribution) to Hiromitsu. The homon is a gunome-midare with utsuri. The Jihada is a O-Itame-hada combined with masame. The Kyu-Gunto saya is missing its koaguchi so the top hanger will slid it the clam shell on the handle is not latched. This is a very interesting sword and will be very nice in full polish.
