Mint Gunto Mounted Gendai By Yasukuni Shrine Smith YasuHiro
This is a super mint gunto mounted gendai katana by Kunimori. The sword is signed To To Ju Nin Kansai Kunimori Kin Saku. This sword has one of the nicest gunto mounts I have ever had on a sword. The mount also comes with a red and brown colonel's rank tassel. The sword is in almost full old polish with only a few scratches and stains. The sword has a cutting edge just over 26 1/4" long. The blade is flawless with no problems at all. The hamon is a bright suguba with tight itame hada which reminds me of a Hizen Tadayoshi.
Kunimori's real nane was Miyaguchi Shigeru and he was born in 1897. He was trained by his father Masatoshi and later studied under Kasama Ikkansai Shigetsugu.Swords signed Kunimori were made on the grounds of of Baron Okura Kishichiro's estate. In 1937 Kunimori became head instructor for Okura Tanrenjo.
