Gunto Mounted Gendai Katana By Kanenaga

Fresh out of the woodwork is this gunto mounted katana.  This sword was surrendered on Truk Island by a Col Tajima to a marine corp man .  I though it was a koto blade before I pulled the handle.  The nice shape and the color of the steel fooled me.  The blade is in excellent polish with all the features of the sword clearly visible.  The cutting edge is about 26" long.  The work in this sword is very good.  The hamon is a choji with profuse nei and kinsuji.  There is some small ware that I have taken several pictures of from different angles.   The sword is signed Kanenaga and is dated 1944.  A very nice true gendai and priced to sell!

On Hold!
